We have had lot of new items make it into stock here at PeachMac this week. We are now fully stocked on Apple’s new iLife ‘08 and iWork ‘08, including Family Packs (5 users) of each. The new Apple Keyboard has arrived and is even slicker than we thought it would be. The wireless version has been delayed somewhat and is not expected to ship for at least another 4-6 weeks.
For those of you interested in running Windows applications on your Mac, VMWare has shipped Fusion for Mac, which, like Parallels Desktop for Mac, allows you to run non-Mac operating systems on any Intel Mac. We have been playing with Fusion for a few days now and we are very impressed indeed. It seems a bit faster than Parallels at just about everything. Fusion is in stock at $79.95, but they are offering a $20 mail-in rebate at this time, so your final cost is just $59.95. Additionally, we are expecting an academic version of Fusion shortly at the very appealing price of $39.95.
In the entertainment world, a couple of new titles landed this week. Virtual Villagers is a village simulator where you care for and nurture a tribe of little people by teaching them the basics of survival. The object of the game is to grow a small village in your computer: your little villagers need to become farmers, builders, researchers, and parents and make decisions on unpredictable island events! As the village grows and prospers, the villagers become curious about their mysterious island home and the secrets it holds. Aside from guiding the villagers’ day-to-day lives, the player helps them to explore and restore the island.
The other new title is Travelogue 360: Paris. Among its renowned landmarks and hidden gems waiting to be discovered, Paris holds something new for each of its visitors. Scour some of the world’s most famous locations for souvenirs as you prepare to be interviewed for an upcoming article in Travelogue 360 magazine. Locate items hidden in 3-Dimensional views of the Eiffel Tower, down the Champs Elysees, under the Arc de Triomphe, and others of Paris’ most beloved landmarks. Find your own Paris in this incredible voyage.
As many of you know, Electronic Arts announced a couple of months ago that they would once again support the Mac market. Well, the first few titles from the EA stables are expected to start arriving in the next week or so. We will update the blog when we get them in.
iPhone accessories continue to arrive almost daily. We now have about twenty different cases in stock with more on the way. Unfortunately, the headphone adapters are still not out in the marketplace.
Finally, we have been very busy over the past couple of months dramatically increasing our inventory selection. Over 300 new items have been added to our shelves recently, so if you have not been in for a while, you should stop by and see all the new stuff.

The new iMacs are here and they are spectacular. We weren’t too sure how we would like the new style and the new screens, but we have to confess that they are simply gorgeous. Oh yeah, and really, really fast too. We have both the 20″ and the 24″ models on display now, so come on down and take a look.

Each of these packages is only $79, which has to be the greatest bargain in computer history. Come on in and get up to speed on these hot new products!

Apple introduced about 20 new products today, and not all of them will be available immediately. We are still trying to nail down dates for most of the new items but here are some initial estimates:
- iMacs – should be here any day now
- iLife ‘08 – within a week
- iWork ‘08 – within a week
- New Airport Extreme Base Station – over week
- New Wireless Keyboard – maybe 3 weeks
- New Keyboard as a separate item – maybe 3 weeks
- New Mac Minis – no estimate given yet, but could be any day
We will update the blog as we get more information.

Hot new iMacs
We at PeachMac knew that something was going to be replacing our dearly beloved iMacs, but we had no idea it would be this incredible! We love the look of the new thinner iMac, a sleek aluminum and glass cabinet with black accents around the display and on the tapered back panel (clearly taking design cues from the iPhone.) The keyboards also are radically redesigned; they are also much thinner and feature the same brushed aluminum look. You really need to see this beauty in person to appreciate it. We also love the tagline: “You can’t be too thin. Or too powerful.” Which reminds us to remind you that the new iMacs are fully loaded, with Intel Core 2 processors, built-in wireless, advanced graphics, a built-in iSight camera, and increased storage and memory. Combine this powerful package with the OSX operating system (which runs on top of a UNIX core) and the innovative and intuitive iLife suite (also updated), and you’ve got a package that can’t be beat at any price. Come take a look!
I love my iLife
If you’ve visited us at PeachMac, or if you’re already the lucky owner of a Macintosh computer, you’ve seen the iLife software suite in action. It’s an amazing group of productivity tools that allows you to store, manipulate, and enjoy your music, videos, and still photographs. I’m sure you’ll share the excitement we feel today as Apple introduces the newest versions of iPhoto, iWeb, iMovie, iDVD, and Garage Band. In the unique Apple way, each application is more powerful, yet easier to use than ever before. Come in today for an iLife ‘08 demo, especially if you’re a Windows user with lots of media (music, video, and photos) and no easy way to create your own slide shows and web pages. And the budding Spielberg can now move from raw footage to a polished movie (and upload it directly to YouTube) in a matter of minutes!
iWork, working better than ever
With every generation of iWork, Apple moves closer to its goal of powerful, feature-laden software that is also “software that you already know how to use”; software that is both innovative and incredibly intuitive. The newly released iWork ’08 includes a new version of the word processor Pages and a revamped version of Keynote, the presentation software; and introduces Numbers, a spreadsheet for the 21st century. Each application allows you to work quickly and effectively, and guarantees results with greater flair (and less stress!) Your newsletter will look more professional, your presentation will seem fresher, and you’ll use your spreadsheet for party planning, lab reports, and home improvement management. And, of course, all your work is compatible with old-fashioned, less inspiring, software like Word, PowerPoint, and Excel (even in Windows versions.)

Well, it’s that time of year. From today through Sunday, you can make computer purchases of up to $1,500 without paying sales tax. Here at PeachMac, we are well stocked and fully staffed to handle this major event. Apple has several models of both desktop and portable computers that fit under the $1,500 limit including the entire MacBook line, and some iMacs. The $1,500 limit is “per visit” according to Georgia law. iPods, recreational software and some other items are not included in the sales tax holiday. We will be open our normal hours, Thursday and Friday 10-8, Saturday 10-6 and Sunday 12-5, so come on down and check out the savings.
