Inventory Update

September 21, 2007

While Apple has been busy releasing one new product after another, we have been busy trying to get them all into the store. And while there have been a few bumps in the road, we have finally convinced Apple to get us caught up with inventory. Thus, we now have _all_ the new iMacs in stock at all times, we have plenty of MacBook Pro’s, and we have _all_ the new iPods as well, with the exception of the touch, which we expect shortly. So, if you are looking for a new nano, or a Classic, PeachMac has plenty in stock in all the colors.

While there are no cases for the new nanos yet, we are expecting them to start arriving in the next few weeks. It is safe to say, PeachMac will have the largest selection of iPod cases in all of Georgia as we add the new cases to our already huge selection.

Now we get a couple of weeks to catch our breath while we await the arrival of Apple’s new operating system, Leopard. Stay tuned for details on our Leopard launch event!

Lots of New iPods – All 16 of Them!

September 5, 2007

Today was certainly iPod Day in the Apple Universe. No fewer than 16 new iPods were announced today, along with a bunch of other cool iPod related news. First up are the iPod Shuffles. While basically unchanged, the Shuffle now comes in five new colors and is still $79. Next are the incredible, all-new nanos featuring a stunning 320 x 240 resolution screen and both 4GB and 8GB sizes. Oh yeah, and they come in five new colors as well. These new nanos are actually smaller than the existing nano, yet contain this huge screen. Very cool packaging. The 4GB nano is $149 and the 8GB models are $199.

The iPod Video has been replaced by the iPod Classic. No, it’s not a new Coke product, but it is a great bargain. The Classic is smaller than the Video, yet contains either 80GB or 160GB in a sleek new metal chassis in black or silver. The 80GB model is now $249, a $100 reduction from the 80GB Video, and the 160GB is $349. Do you have 40,000 songs? If so, this Classic is for you.

Finally, we have the new iPod touch. This is basically an iPhone without the calling stuff. The touch is a bit thinner than the iPhone, but otherwise the same pleasing shape and size. It’s the first iPod with wi-fi (more on that later) and has a built-in Safari web browser. The touch comes in two sizes, 8GB and 16GB and is priced at $299 and $399.

Apple also announced a long-requested feature for the iPod touch and iPhone and that’s the ability to download songs from the iTunes Store directly to your iPod or iPhone using the wi-fi connection. This is a very slick feature. So, you’re sitting in Jittery Joe’s and you hear a song on the radio that reminds you of your first day of high school. Well, now you can whip out your iPod and instantly download that song to your iPod. There’s also a deal with Starbucks, but it will be some time before it rolls out to all 7 million Starbucks locations. Hmmm, wonder if the one being built across from PeachMac will have the iPod feature…

And, one more thing…Apple also announced a $200 price reduction on the iPhone. The 4GB model is being discontinued and the 8GB model is now $399. Does that suck for those who bought the phone for $599, like me? I guess you can make that argument, but on the other hand I just got to use the coolest, bestest, slickest cell phone ever for the past two months, so no complaints here. I can tell you that Apple will sell a boatload of these things at $399 and that’s a good thing.

We have a few of the older iPod 80GB Videos and nanos in stock, all at significant savings. So, if you are looking for a good deal, be sure to stop by soon.

We have already placed orders for a whole lot of these new iPods. We expect the Shuffles, nanos and Classics to be here by Monday or so. The iPod touch will not be released by Apple until the end of September.

Finally, yes this is really the last thing, there will be tons of new cases to go along with all these new iPods. We will get these in as they are released by the manufacturers over the next couple of months.
